As a coach, and as a human, I have a deep interest in tools. In my personal and professional life, tarot has been one of the most powerful, challenging, affirming, and useful tools in my practice. And as my own practice has grown from an academic interest, to personal curiosity, and now daily ritual for more than five years, the time is right to offer it as another tool available to you in our work together.
Tarot, in the way I use it, is a tool to help us shift our thinking, to bring awareness to aspects of ourselves that might go unnoticed, and to bring care where we need it, how we need it, right we are. I’m influenced deeply by teachers like Lindsay Mack and Sarah Faith Gottesdiener, especially around the idea of tarot as being a tool for the now, as opposed to one that predicts the future, or shames us for our past. Tarot isn’t here to guilt, shame, or scare us - but to illuminate areas where we might not be looking, and where that attention will help and support us.
In a session, we will:
take a few minutes to arrive in the space, check in with where you are physically, emotionally, and mentally, and set some intentions for our time together.
draw cards to facilitate a conversation around topics of your choosing
make a plan to move forward from our session, with actionable steps to think about or do, which you’ll receive in a follow up email, with a recording (if you wish it)
As I often do, I pulled a few cards to get some clarity around what this offering is, and isn’t - and here’s what I got! (a fair example of the kinds of questions, and answers, you might get in a session). And a big thank you to Amy Kuretsky, where I first saw this kind of thinking made public on a website.
What is the power of this offering? Eight of Cups
There is beauty and strength in walking away, away from things that have served you, and towards the unknown. Transitions can be All the Things, but ultimately, they help us do differently, think differently, and feel differently, if that’s what we want.
What do people need to know about this offering? Five of Wands
It could get messy! If you’re looking for a session where you walk away with a clear, ten step plan to fix everything and never stress again, this is not for you! But if you can tolerate a little bit of nonlinearity, there is often a lot of good information in and amidst the mess.
What can shift as a result of this offering? The Devil
We all can, consciously or unconsciously, be locked into patterns of doing, being, and thinking that keep us in the same place. Tarot is absolutely a tool to help us see what those patterns are, and once we see them, we can start to shift them.
This is a pay what you can offering - there is a minimum price, but you can also adjust that if you feel called and have the resources to do so.
